Full video blog post at: https://www.mariomontreal.com/why-do-what-you-love-is-dead —SUMMARY: WHY "DO WHAT YOU LOVE" IS DEAD (AND, WHAT TO DO INSTEAD)— We hear it so often these days, unfortunately from life coaches in their mid 20s. In other words, people who have no freaking clue about life. And, TBT, I believe no one of us has a clue about life. I don't have a clue. And yet, I know that "do what you love" can be terrible career advice. While it's important that you take your time to do stuff you love; don't base your whole entire career (or business) on doing what you love. I'm serious. Take a look at the following Inspiring Insights, as well as check out the video/podcast audio above for more! —INSPIRING INSIGHTS— 1.) MOVE FROM PASSION TO PURPOSE. Passion alone, without direction (purpose), is oftentimes like a goal without the action; it leads you nowhere. Look where's real demand in the world. Find a solution for that. (BTW, keep doing what you're doing if you're happy and/or successful. If that's you and you're already doing work you're passionate about AND are getting paid for ...congrats, SO happy for you! No irony.) 2.) COMMIT TO MASTERY. Forget about the 10,000 hour rule. Yep, I actually said that. Forget. About. It. Instead, block time during your day—every day—and commit to working on your craft. Whatever that may be for you. Don't worry about the results. Just put in the work. Remember, you only get out ...what you put in. I don't recommend you try to reverse it. 3.) DIFFERENTIATE. On a personal and professional level. The challenge is to keep being YOU. To stay authentic, and real, and true to yourself—and others. To, yes, find the proper positioning that makes you stand out, more attractive to others, etc. But at the same time, still be you. As said before, it's a challenge. A challenge worth taking on. 4.) DO WHAT YOU LOVE. What? Paradox of practice? Nah, not really. What I suggest here is this. Keep doing what you love to do, even if you can't make any money doing it. I, for example, love to play video games/listen to music/play football (soccer)/meet new people. I keep doing these things. Ok, I'm also passionate about The Highly Inspiring Journey, researching and learning, helping other people improve their lives, etc. 5.) BUT. I'm well aware of the fact that (a) there's a lot of competition for doing what you love; (b) there are days where you don't feel like doing it but you still have to do it—you can't approach it like a hobby anymore; (c) the thing you once loved to do might turn into a thing you absolutely hate. Ever thought about that? Thought so. And, as always: Enjoy the Journey, –Mario M. Montreal Creator, Meaningful Life Mastery
