Amir Hall, two-time Black College Player of the Year, aspires to be first HBCU QB drafted by the NFL since '06. (Ep. 15)

Amir Hall, former QB for the Bowie State Bulldogs, talks about his experience playing at a D2 HBCU, his incredible record-breaking career in the CIAA Conference, and the reality of being an underdog going into the NFL draft. Hall, who sees himself as a QB in the Philip Rivers mold, was a back-to-back winner of the Black College Football Player of the Year. In spite of his stellar accolades (in three years, he set school records in passing yards, touchdowns, and passing efficiency), the reality is that Hall, at least on paper, is a long shot to make it to the NFL. No NFL team has drafted a QB from an HBCU (Historically Black College or University) since 2006. But Hall is no stranger to long odds. As a scrawny kid starting high school, he didn't just get cut from his high school team, he got cut from the JV! A few months ago, Quincy Avery entered intense pre-draft training with three very different QBs with vastly different resumes: Dwayne Haskins (a Heisman finalist); Tanner Mangum, a former Elite 11 co-MVP and BYU QB trying to show teams he's still NFL-calibre; and Hall, the Division 2 QB trying to make a giant leap to the league. Hall made great strides under Quincy's tutelage, and impressed scouts at an NFL pro day. If you don't hear Hall's name called in the first 7 rounds of the NFL draft, pay attention to signings of UDFA's--undrafted free agents. Every year, a significant percentage of UDFA's are on NFL rosters.
