SIMPLICITY IS POWER
The theme for our meditation today is: Simplicity is Power. When the disciples of Jesus were commissioned to carry out services to people without being equipped with adequate supporting facilities and materials, they did not complain and protest. They were sure to carry it out with pleasure. They did the mission entrusted in a spirit of simplicity because there were very limited resources the had. But this was actually a power. They didn't need to worry because Jesus would always accompany them.
The spirit of simplicity has been used in the ministry of the Church throughout its history, as for example, between the years 1930-1960s there was a zealous man of the Church who did an extraordinary services to people in Italy, especially in the southern region of Rome, namely San Giovanni Rotonda. This man was Saint Padre Pio whose feast day we celebrate today. He was known as a mystic, a servant for many people who sought renewal of life, and he offered himself completely to Christ. His all simplicity and sincerity in the ministry was paid by the Lord in the gift of the stigmata on his body that he endured to the end of his life.
People often say that simplicity is beautiful. Simplicity is happiness. Simplicity is empowering. A simple life is noble, etc. Living a simple life is not about being poor or destitute, nor is it about doing nothing or not wanting anything. A simple life is beautiful, happy and noble because it is lived in humility and in awareness that any mistakes or shortcomings can be corrected through forgiveness, repentance and reconciliation. Before the all powerful God, we are only people who need what is sufficient for life, because we are not determined to be rich or to be poor, says the book of Proverbs today.
Our simplicity is a power because of our main dependence on God. We enjoy this life by carrying out our respective roles and responsibilities. Everyone has the right to receive what is appropriate for the sustenance of life according to what is being done. This life is dedicated to God, to our children, to our brothers and sisters, and to the people whom we serve. Each of us is given by God a responsibility or duty and it is sufficient for us to fulfill it. He has promised to be with us and of course this assurance will eliminate all our worries in this world.
The principle of simplicity as a power for life is this: we live our lives according to the abilities given by God, and if we are unable to do one thing or another because of certain challenges or obstacles, God will do his part for us. That is the power of simplicity.
Let's pray. In the name of the Father ... Father in heaven, we always pray, "Your kingdom come" so that we can make our lives powerful, which is in line with our abilities and also our dependence on Your power. Hail Mary full of grace ... In the name of the Father ...
